Drywall Services

From start to finish, we are dedicated to ensuring that every project is completed with the highest level of quality, care, and precision. The contractors we work with are experts in all facets of the craft and are ready to build the walls you need for a perfect finish, every time. Here is a little more information about each one of the drywall services our contractors provide.

Drywall Hanging

Every drywall installation job begins with surveying the walls and making sure we have the right measurements calculated. Drywall sheets often need to be cut into place once we get closer to the edges and the corners of the room. The sheets are cut to the exact measurements necessary so that the smallest gap possible will remain between them. When calculating where and how sheets need to be hung its important to take into account things like electrical outlets, windows, doors, switches, floors, and trim. Keeping the end product in mind with every sheet they are  hung so that the rest of the process goes as smoothly as possible

Drywall Taping

If you've ever tried taping drywall yourself, you know precise of a job is needs to be. Drywall tape covers up the seams of the sheets in the center of the wall and in the corners. Part of the taping process is applying the correct amount of mud on each coat. The first coat requires the most mud, followed by the second and the third. With the proper level of care, attention, and experience, when you're finished taping the walls, they will be almost 100% smooth, with only a little bit of sanding necessary to finish the job.

Drywall Sanding

Once the sheets are hung and the seams are taped, the sand paper comes out to make sure that there are no imperfections in the mud. It is super important to sand the walls properly, as afterward, the primer and paint go on the walls. If there are any remaining creases or dips in the drywall compound, then they will be glaringly obvious when the paint is on the wall. When the sanding job is done, there should be nothing left to be desired and the paint can be rolled on confidently.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the process of drywall?

Drywall installation projects are different for various jobs, but from start to finish, we start with hanging the ceiling sheets, then the walls. Then we move on to mudding and taping the corners and seams, which generally takes 3 coats. Once all three coats are installed, we sand it down to perfectly smooth so it is ready for priming and painting.

  • How long does a drywall job take?

An entire house can take anywhere from 5 days to a few weeks depending on the size of the property. Hanging the drywall is the simple part, and we can usually get a few rooms done in a day. However, more larger homes that require scafolding and tricky, hard to reach areas, it can take a little bit longer. Factor in the amount of time we will need to apply, and let dry a few coats of mud.

  • How much does a drywall project cost?

Each job is different, but our drywall costs are between $1 and $3/sqft. This translates to jobs ranging anywhere from $500 to $5000 depending on the complexity of the project.

  • How long does it take for drywall mud to dry?

We always recommend leaving drywall compound to dry for at least 24 hours before re applying. This will give the compound enough time to reset so we can apply the second and third coats. In particularly humid weather, we sometimes need to put fans and dehumidifiers in the room to ensure when we come back to apply more coats, the room is ready.

  • Do you hang drywall all the way to the floor?

We always leave a little gap between the bottom of the drywall edge and the floor. That gap is not very large, and will be covered by the trim that is installed at the base which is designed to add a better look and a closing of the gap.

  • Do you install drywall or floors first?

The subfloor should be installed before the finish floor. Then we will hang the drywall. It is important to know the thickness of the finish floor so that we know what level the drywall needs to be installed to. Then, once all the mud and dust from the drywall is in, you will have a much easier time installing the floors.
